Today I am featuring a page I have done for Michelle's "Animal" Challenge for Scraps of Elegance.
This page was scrapped with the beautiful Traveller paper from Prima and all the matching Traveller Flowers and Embellishments.

PRETTY LITTLE THINGS

Haven't been doing much scrapbooking, but doing lots of crocheting while the weather is cooler up here in Far North Queensland. Today I am showing you a page I have done using Scraps of Elegance July Kit " Raindrops on Roses". It is a fairly simple design but I think it came up very nice. The paper is from the  Authentique Collection - Pretty Luxe - Flowers are Petaloo and Prima - I added some black lace, the pretty chipboard cutout is from The Dusty Attic Range, The Journaling Card is from the Authentic Life Cards, which match the paper. Princess Button is a Prima Flair Button Hope you enjoy the page.

THURSDAY EMBELLISHMENTS

Today I found a great idea for making your own borders for down the sides/along the bottom of your pages. I have made a few of these myself over the years but these are very nice for pages and they look great. Hope you have a try at these lovely border embellishments.

TECHNIQUE WEDNESDAY - Folded Chevron Technique

The days are just flying by, today is Thursday and nearly the end of the week again. Today I have a great tutorial a easy way to make chevrons for your scrapbooking pages. One day late but getting there.

Goodmorning Everyone,

This page has been scrapped with the beautiful Prima Time Traveller Collection. This collection of paper and embellishments is beautiful. Of course the Papers used are from the collection as is all the flowers. I also used Kaisercraft black pearls, the new Kaszazz Bow Maker which is great and comes in the large size I used on this LO, and a smaller size for cards, very versatile. Cameo by Websters, and Chalkboard Charms by Melissa Frances, a white doilie which I cut in half and sprayed with a Lindy"s Spray Ink. The chipboard word Love I painted with a light green paint and then sprinkled Black Embossing Powder over it randomly and then heated with my heat gun. I added small amount of Burlap and muslin which I sprayed with Lindy's Spray Ink, these pieces are coming out from under the flowers.

MY JULY SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE KIT.

Well my Scraps of Elegance July Kit has arrived "Chasing Rabbits" what a beautiful kit. Papers are absolutely beautiful and matching embellishments are devine. Here is a look at my kit. Pages to follow.

Melinda has such good taste in papers and embellishments. I can honestly say I have never received a kit I did not like. Some of them are absolutely beautiful, this one being one of my favourite kits. Keep tuned for my pages.

MY PUBLISHED PAGE

Hi Everyone,

I have just returned from holidays. Went down to spend time with my Dad as he turned 86 this month. He is still in the very best of health good on you dad. Yesterday my Australian Scrapbook Ideas arrived and in the Your Designs Section was my first page to be published "Memories". I was so excited my very first published page. For anyone who is interested it is in on page 12 of the magazine. Thought I would post a photo of the page........

Two more pages to go....... Hope to get my mojo back and will be posting a few new pages shortly. My monthly kit from Scraps of Elegance should arrive within the next few days. Will give me all the inspiration I need. Until then.

THURSDAY EMBELLISHMENTS

Hi Everyone, Today I am posting a video on how to make Shabby Chic Canvas Flowers. This is a great video and the flowers are lovely and would make a great embellishment to any scrapbook Layout.

TECHNIQUE WEDNESDAY

Today I thought I would post a video on how to do an 8 x 8 layout. I have just finished an 81/2 x 81/2 layout and found it quite hard to think of a design I am so used to doing the larger pages. I find it really hard to go from 12 x 12 layouts down to the smaller ones. I feel I want to add too much to the smaller pages. I think the smaller pages are better if kept simple. Thought today that I would post 2 x 8 1/2" pages I have done on my Foster Cats. I decided I would keep a record of the cats that pass through my home. My first two pages were scrapped with Bella - Light of my Life - My Romance Paper. It is such a pretty pink. I backed the photos in Bazzill cardstock Vanilla and Pink. Flowers I picked up at Spotlight Little Birdie - Floral Cafe- they were just the right size for a smaller page. Ruby Rock-It Reminisce Pink Trimmings and Bella Pink Heart Stickers. I used some small green leaves and a heart die. I had an 81/2 " square album I had bought a few years ago which I am using. Hope you enjoy my page.

MY CAT ACE

For any cat lovers out there tomorrow I am adopting Ace. I am a foster carer for Angel Paws and when Ace was put in my arms I knew he would not be leaving our house. He has such a personality but not many people want Black Cats so they are hard to adopt out. I also have another Cat Annie also a foster cat but I do not have that same feeling as I had for Ace. Here is a photo of him playing in his paper bag.

TECHNIQUE WEDNESDAY - BRAYER TECHNIQUES

Hi Everyone,

 

I am late posting my technique wednesday, but although today is Thursday here we go: Today I am showing you a video on different techniques for scrapbooking backgrounds using a brayer. I often do this it is very useful on old paper you have had in your stash and have decided it is too bright for today's scrapbooking pages or the design is just old. If this occurs I get my brayer and with white paint or gesso I colour my whole piece of paper and this quietens down the colour. It works wonders!!

THE BIG DAY

As promised here is my page I scrapped this morning. This page was done with the April Scraps of Elegance "Flutter Kit". I think this is one my my favourite kits so far, the papers are so romantic.

TECHNIQUE WEDNESDAY - LAYOUT BACKGROUND USING STENSILS

Hi Everyone,

Have been a bit slow with my scrapbooking but hope to get a page done today. But today I am featuring a great video on how to do a background for a layout using stensils and distress inks. So grab a cup of coffee and hope you enjoy this video.

I really hope you like this video as I found it very informative. I love using stensils on my backgrounds but lately have been leaning towards Gesso and modelling paste as it seems the in thing to do at the moment, but I seem to have forgotten my distress inks. I love distress inks in my layouts it can give a nice bright feeling to a page or a very rustic look. Stay tuned for my layout for today.

THURSDAY EMBELLISHMENTS - CLIP ART BUTTERFLIES

 Hi Everyone,

Everyone loves butterflies and today I have a link to a range of clip art butterflies which you can print out then embellishment them as you like, with glitter, kindy glitz, anything really. I use these butterflies and I like to print them out on matt photo paper, this gives them a really nice colour aternatively you can print them on cardstock or any kind of paper. Just save them to your computer and then print them off. You can also put them in photoshop and make them smaller or larger as you like.

SCRAP THE GIRLS - MAY CHALLENGE

This month at Scrap The Girls the challenge is to take inspiration from the following quote

"something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue"

I took my inspiration from "something old". The photo I have scrapped

is a very old photo of my Great Grandmother.

I really enjoyed this challenge and had lots of fun scrapping this page.

TECHNIQUE WEDNESDAY - EMBELLISHING CHIPBOARD

Goodmorning Everyone,

The past few days have been a bit unseasonal for us up in Far North Queensland with very cold mornings so I have had to bring out the winter dressing gown which I have not used for many years. The days are absolutely beautiful and we are so lucky to live up this way. I absolutely love using chipboard on my LO's, but sometimes wonder what to do next to make them different from the last page I have done. Today I have a great little video with lots of ideas on how to embellish your chipboard.

EMBELLISHMENT THURSDAY - CREATE YOUR OWN COLOURED PEARLS

I am three days late with my post due to having a new foster kitten in the house. He is adorable and has settled in very well. I will put a photo of him at the end of this post. This video shows you how to colour your white pearls with alcohol ink markers to make them any colour you need for your cards or your scrapbooking pages. It is a great idea. Here are a few ideas for embellishments to add to your scrapbooking pages.

These embellishments would enhance your pages with a splash of colour. I decided to add an Easter Embellishment as easter is nearly here and you may like to include the egg basket in one of your easter scrapbooking pages.

OWL CARDS

Aawwww how cute are these cards. 

These cards were made with the Stampin Up Sizzix Die " Top Note " (I think this die can only be bought from a Stampin Up Consultant), Circle Punches, Scallop Punch, Heart Punches. They are so simple to make and they look so cute. I cut out all my pieces first and then assembled the card.

TECHNIQUE WEDNESDAY - WORRY FREE MISTING

Yesterday I watched this video and found it very helpful. I have had a few mishaps with misting on a background I was doing for a LO and had to throw it away. This video gives great ideas on how to mist without making a mess of your background. I am just waiting for my Scraps of Elegance Kit to arrive and I am going to practice some ideas from the video. I hope you take the time to watch and learn how to make misting enjoyable.

CARD IN A BOX

Ummmm my first card in a box. I think I need a little (lot) of practice. Will make another one and see if I can do a better job of it. They aren't all that hard to make, but I need to do a better arrangement on the card, on this card I did butterflies. I think I will try flowers on the next one. SCRAPS OF ELEGANCE KIT CLUB

HI Everyone,


Well I have been waiting for my Scraps of Elegance March Kit to arrive. I always get excited when I know it is around the time it comes. This month it is called "Floral Fantasy". It is full of beautiful papers from Graphic 45, Fabscraps, Embellishments from Graphic 45, Prima , Ranger, May Arts, Reneabouquets, and to top it off some beautiful black lace. I am looking forward to creating some lovely scrapbook pages with this kit.

 

I find for me this is the best way to buy my papers and embellishments to do my pages, as I live in a small town which does not have a scrapbooking shop, so all I buy is from the internet, and sometimes things aren't quite what they seem when they arrive. I have always looked forward and loved my Scraps of Elegance Kit arriving each month.

My next page will be using the papers and embellishments from this kit.
